Manchester United wrapped up the weekend with a game at home against Everton, one the Red Devils were expected to win; however, despite getting a helping hand from Idrissa Gana Gueye, United still managed to lose the game.

It was a weekend that restored Arsenal’s six-point lead at the top following Manchester City’s loss at Newcastle and Liverpool’s new low at home following a loss to Nottingham Forest. Chelsea is the closest contender to Arsenal, and the two meet at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

We learnt a few things from the weekend, and we’re wondering if it’s a repeat of last season. From where we stand, we see Arsenal doing the Liverpool of last season, extending leads by each weekend and closest rivals falling off. Will they finish on top like Liverpool did last season?

Manchester City is proving to be the Arsenal of last season, showing brilliance at some points and then mediocrity at other points. We expect the Cityzens to finish second like Arsenal did last season. Will they rise above their current inconsistencies to beat Arsenal to the title?

Chelsea are proving to be the same as they were last season. They were indeed second at some points last season; lots of people touted them to be title contenders, but they fell off and eventually struggled to finish in Champions League places. It feels a lot like déjà vu for them.

For Liverpool, without a doubt, they’re the Manchester City of last season. Pay attention to how they’re losing freely, just the way the Cityzens struggled last season even as the defending champions. However, we expect Liverpool to get a grip at some point and put on a good show to finish in the top four.

Let’s talk about Tottenham and their weird season, shall we? Thomas Frank was brought in to stabilise the squad after the exit of Ange Postecoglou. He has recorded some good results, and they had this sensational away form going for them; none of that happened at the Emirates on Sunday.

Two goals in either half, with Richarlison scoring a beauty that counted for nothing in the end. Do Spurs leave too much space for opponents to exploit? Ebere Eze was free every time he dashed into the Spurs area, and even with a sea of legs crowding him for his first goal, he still got a shot away.

And then United lost to Everton despite the sending off of Gueye as early as the 13th minute, and you wonder, what is going on with Ruben Amorim? Their five-match unbeaten run has ended. Can this United team indeed string wins together consistently?
