This weekend football preview covers the biggest fixtures in England, Spain, Italy and Germany, with predictions and betting tips throughout.
Arsenal have the lead. Barcelona have daylight. Inter have breathing room. Bayern smell blood. But this is the kind of weekend that makes title races weird again, because one bad result turns control into panic very quickly.
Chelsea v Man City matters. Dortmund v Leverkusen matters. Atalanta v Juventus matters.
And if Liverpool wobble again, the top-five race in England stops being tense and starts becoming embarrassing for them.
There is also real pressure hanging over a few dugouts.
Chelsea have taken one win from six league games under Liam Rosenior and he gets City next.
Liverpool have gone from “maybe they’ll steady this” to looking like a side that needs the season to end.
Atletico have to pick themselves up after another blow in both the league and Europe.
By Sunday night, a title push could look stronger, a Champions League chase could get nasty, and somebody will almost certainly ruin a perfectly good plan.

Premier League
Arsenal vs Bournemouth
Arsenal are nine points clear at the top and still grinding through a packed run, while Bournemouth arrive on an 11-match unbeaten streak in the league.
That is the annoying bit for Arsenal fans: this is not a routine home banker, because Iraola’s side make games messy and Tyler Adams is back in the frame, even with Lewis Cook and Justin Kluivert out.
Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Bournemouth
Tip: Both teams to score. Bournemouth are too well-drilled to disappear quietly and Arsenal have enough injuries and doubts to give them moments.
Brentford vs Everton
This has mid-table scrap written all over it.
Brentford are chasing the top-five pack from the shadows and Everton are one of those sides who can make a decent match feel like heavy labour.
Prediction: Brentford 1-1 Everton
Tip: Under 2.5 goals. It looks like the sort of game that spends long spells arguing with itself.
Burnley vs Brighton
Burnley are still stuck in the survival mess and every point matters now.
Brighton are one of those teams who can dominate the ball, miss chances, and then leave everyone annoyed.
Prediction: Burnley 1-1 Brighton
Tip: Draw. Burnley need it more, Brighton rarely make life simple, and desperation changes games in April.
Chelsea vs Manchester City
This is the biggest game of the weekend.
City are nine points behind Arsenal with a game in hand, so the maths is still there even if the margin looks ugly.
That is why this trip matters so much.
Drop points here and the title chase starts sounding like nostalgia. Win, and suddenly Arsenal feel a bit less comfortable before that looming clash next week.
Chelsea, meanwhile, sit just one point behind fifth-placed Liverpool, so there is still a Champions League place there for them if they stop collecting damage.
The problem for Chelsea is the timing. Enzo Fernandez is suspended by the club. Reece James, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah are out.
That is already a bad recipe against any decent side.
Against City, it can turn into a very long afternoon if the press gets broken early and often.
City are not exactly turning up fresh either. Ruben Dias is out, Josko Gvardiol is out with a broken leg, and John Stones is only a doubt.
But Guardiola’s side have that usual April look again: they smell the finish line, Haaland just hit a hat-trick in the FA Cup, and this is normally the month where everyone remembers that chasing City is miserable work.
Chelsea can make this awkward, but right now they do not look stable enough to survive City’s pressure for 90 minutes.
The Blues are limping into this. City are stalking. There is a difference.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-3 Manchester City
Tip: Man City to win and over 2.5 goals. Chelsea have too many absences at the back and City do their best late-season work when the heat rises.
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United
Newcastle still have European targets to chase and Palace can be awkward at Selhurst when games turn scrappy.
This has the feel of one of those matches where Newcastle create enough but still get dragged into a fight.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-2 Newcastle
Tip: Newcastle draw no bet. They have the higher ceiling, even if Palace usually make visitors suffer a bit first.
Liverpool vs Fulham
Liverpool are fifth on 49 points and the mood around them is terrible.
Two goals in the last four matches across competitions, a 4-0 hiding from City in the cup, then a 2-0 Champions League defeat in Paris.
This is no longer a blip. It is a pattern.
Fulham also come in rested, which is not ideal when Liverpool already look like a side running on fumes.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Fulham
Tip: Fulham +1 handicap. Liverpool should still have enough to avoid a collapse at Anfield, but backing them with confidence right now feels reckless.
Manchester United vs Leeds United
Manchester United are third, Leeds are down in the survival fight, and rivalry does strange things to logic.
United have a boost with Lisandro Martínez and Patrick Dorgu edging back, but Harry Maguire misses out through suspension.
Leeds are definitely without Anton Stach, Joe Rodon and Daniel James, with more doubts around the squad.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Leeds
Tip: Manchester United to win. Leeds have too many bodies missing for a trip like this.
Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa
Villa are clinging to the Champions League places and Forest are still looking over their shoulder.
That usually means a tense match with one team trying to play and the other trying not to give anything away.
Prediction: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Aston Villa
Tip: Draw. Villa’s recent form has been patchy and Forest will treat this like a survival final.
Sunderland vs Tottenham
Spurs are deep in the relegation conversation, which is a sentence that still looks ridiculous when you read it back.
Sunderland will fancy this at home because Tottenham remain one of the easiest big names to unsettle when the mood turns.
Prediction: Sunderland 2-2 Tottenham
Tip: Both teams to score. Trusting Spurs to control anything right now is brave in the worst way.
West Ham vs Wolves
Another survival game.
Another fixture where quality takes a back seat and nerves do most of the talking.
West Ham have not looked secure for a while and Wolves are exactly the kind of opponent who will happily turn this into a scrap.
Prediction: West Ham 1-0 Wolves
Tip: Under 2.5 goals. This could be ugly, tight and decided by one set piece.
La Liga
Real Madrid vs Girona
Madrid are seven points behind Barcelona, so this is one of those matches where anything except a win feels like surrender.
Girona have been useful spoilers before, but going to the Bernabeu with Madrid already irritated is not a fun assignment.
Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Girona
Tip: Real Madrid to win and over 2.5 goals. Madrid do not have room for caution now.
Barcelona vs Espanyol
Barcelona lead La Liga and just beat Atletico away, but they are also coming off that ugly 2-0 Champions League loss to Atletico in midweek.
That usually means one thing: somebody is about to receive a response, and local rivals Espanyol may be the unlucky ones.
Pedri is a concern after Wednesday, but Barca should still have too much.
Prediction: Barcelona 3-0 Espanyol
Tip: Barcelona -1 handicap. Derby or not, the gap in quality is big and the mood should be vicious.
Sevilla vs Atletico Madrid
Atletico are fourth, coming off a league defeat to Barca and a big Champions League win over the same opponent.
That is a strange emotional place to be. Sevilla at home can still be awkward, and this feels like the exact sort of fixture where Atletico’s attack goes missing for an hour and everyone starts blaming Diego Simeone again.
Prediction: Sevilla 1-1 Atletico Madrid
Tip: Atletico Madrid to drop points. The emotional swing from Wednesday to Saturday is real, and Sevilla will make this ugly.
Athletic Club vs Villarreal
Third against a top-four rival is proper business.
Villarreal are holding third in La Liga, Athletic have home advantage and European-level intensity, and this has the feel of a game that tells us who actually wants the Champions League music next season.
Prediction: Athletic Club 2-1 Villarreal
Tip: Athletic Club draw no bet. San Mamés is not where you go for a relaxing afternoon.
Roma vs Pisa
Roma are still sixth and need a response after getting battered 5-2 by Inter.
Pisa away is not meant to be glamorous. It is meant to be three points and a cleaner mood.
Prediction: Roma 2-0 Pisa
Tip: Roma to win. They need a bounce-back and this is the right opponent for it.
AC Milan vs Udinese
Milan just lost to Napoli and can feel Juventus and the rest breathing down their neck.
Udinese are awkward enough to frustrate, but Milan usually have the tools to pin this kind of game back into the opposition half.
Prediction: AC Milan 2-1 Udinese
Tip: AC Milan to win. Milan cannot afford another flat performance after Monday.
Atalanta vs Juventus
This is one of the better games of the weekend full stop.
Atalanta are seventh on 53 points, Juventus are fifth on 57, and the race for the Champions League spots in Italy is still alive.
Gasperini’s side will run, press and irritate. Juve will try to turn that chaos into control.
Prediction: Atalanta 1-1 Juventus
Tip: Draw. It looks balanced, tense and very capable of cancelling itself out.
Parma vs Napoli
Napoli have won five straight and are the only side still pretending Inter might feel real pressure.
That means no slipping up at Parma. Antonio Conte sides do not always entertain, but they do know how to make these games feel inevitable.
Prediction: Parma 0-2 Napoli
Tip: Napoli to win. They are in the best form in Serie A outside Inter, and probably the cleaner bet right now.
Augsburg vs Hoffenheim
Hoffenheim are fifth and still in the mix for Europe, while Augsburg love making better teams hate football for a night.
Friday in Germany can get strange very quickly.
Prediction: Augsburg 1-1 Hoffenheim
Tip: Under 2.5 goals. This has nuisance value all over it.
Borussia Dortmund vs Bayer Leverkusen
Dortmund are second on 64 points, nine behind Bayern, and Leverkusen are sixth on 49, still chasing the top four.
Leverkusen smashed Wolfsburg 6-3 last time out and finally looked alive again, but Dortmund at home are still a serious test.
Prediction: Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
Tip: Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals. Neither side looks built for caution here.
RB Leipzig vs Borussia Monchengladbach
Leipzig are third and know the chance is there to tighten their grip on a Champions League place.
Gladbach can score, but they also give opponents too many invitations.
Prediction: RB Leipzig 3-1 Gladbach
Tip: RB Leipzig to win. They have too much at stake and usually turn home pressure into goals.
St. Pauli vs Bayern Munich
Bayern are top, chasing another title, and even talk of an all-time Bundesliga scoring record is hanging around them.
St. Pauli need points for very different reasons, but this is one of those fixtures where bravery can become self-harm.
Prediction: St. Pauli 0-3 Bayern Munich
Tip: Bayern Munich to win to nil. Bayern smell the finish line, and St. Pauli may spend most of this game surviving.
Champions League
Sporting CP vs Arsenal (second leg next week, Arsenal lead 1-0)
Arsenal did the hard bit in Lisbon and now come into the weekend trying to protect bodies without losing rhythm.
Sporting are still alive, but one more disciplined Arsenal performance and this tie probably stays under control.
Prediction: Arsenal to go through
Tip: Arsenal to qualify. They are too organised to waste a first-leg lead like this.
Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich (second leg next week, Bayern lead 2-1)
Madrid are still Madrid, which is the only reason nobody is writing the obituary yet.
But Bayern already have the edge and look a more settled side right now.
Prediction: Bayern to go through
Tip: Both teams to score in the second leg. That tie is not ending quietly.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Liverpool (second leg next week, PSG lead 2-0)
Liverpool are wobbling at exactly the wrong time and PSG already have the two-goal cushion.
Unless Slot suddenly finds a functioning attack again, this feels close to done.
Prediction: PSG to go through
Tip: PSG to qualify. Liverpool do not look like a side about to produce a famous European night.
Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona (second leg next week, Atletico lead 2-0)
This one is still alive because Barca have enough attack to make anyone panic.
But Atletico taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg is exactly the kind of scenario Simeone dreams about.
Shut the door, kick the key under it, then tell everyone it was tactical art.
Prediction: Atletico to go through
Tip: Atletico to qualify. Barca will create chances, but chasing Atletico over 90 minutes is one of football’s least pleasant jobs.
Upset Special
Fulham to avoid defeat at Liverpool
Most people will still lean home win because it is Anfield and because old habits die hard.
But Liverpool look shot, Fulham are rested, and the bigger issue is this: Liverpool are playing like a team waiting for someone else to fix it.
That usually ends with dropped points.
Banker
Barcelona to beat Espanyol
This is the safest bet of the weekend for me.
Barcelona are top, they are stronger, they are at home, and that Champions League frustration should turn into a proper reaction.
Espanyol may keep it annoying for a bit, but over 90 minutes this should be Barca’s game.
