Arsenal’s season crumbled under the lights at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday night, like a bad dream coming true right before their eyes; they’re out of the Champions League.

After losing the first leg at the Emirates last week, the Gunners were up against it as all the odds rose against them. It was always going to be tough against Luis Henrique’s side, and the latter orchestrated a professional performance to see off the Gunners.

Despite dominating the opening exchanges, Arsenal conceded against the run of play midway into the first half, and that ended their fight. Arsenal would rue lots of missed chances, especially early in the game, as PSG scored again after the 70th minute, rendering Saka’s goal a mere consolation.

Thursday is the turn of the other three England teams left in European competitions, and one of them is guaranteed a trophy at the very least. Manchester United and Tottenham are about to make it an all-England Europa League final, while Chelsea remains the favourite to win the Conference League.

For Manchester United, having won the first leg of their semifinal clash with Athletic Bilbao comprehensively away in Spain, they only need to manage the game and ensure they don’t let their opponents back into the game; 3-0 isn’t easy to overturn at Old Trafford.

Tottenham won at home against Bodo/Glimt 3-1. The Norwegians would feel a sense of belief with the goal they scored away; however, Tottenham should have enough to get the job done and hand the Premier League a final to look forward to.

It is quite interesting to see that one of Spurs and United would go to the Champions League next season from the 16th or 14th positions, respectively. It must be tough on whoever misses out, with the league having finished 6th or 7th.

Chelsea won away 4-1 in the first leg of their Europa Conference League and doesn’t even need full strength on Thursday to see off Djugarden; however, the real test for them in the competition would be in the final, where they would face either Real Betis or Fiorentina.

For Arsenal, it’s another failed season, and, despite deprioritising the league, they now must fight for the second spot that seems to be slipping from their grasp. They have a huge summer on their hands where they must fix the weaknesses in their squad.
