When Liverpool lifted the title in 1990, which was two years before the inception of the Premier League, not a single soul would believe it would take another 30 years before they lift another one.

While the one they won five seasons ago was a little under-celebrated (due to the pandemic at the time), clinching their first in three decades warmed hearts on the red side of Merseyside and restored some pride after years of banter.

The latest triumph ends the long reign of Manchester City, one which looks set to hand Arsenal another second-best finish, and places Arne Slot alongside managers who have landed the Premier League title at the first time of asking.

The atmosphere around Anfield on Sunday was electrifying. Everyone around could see red flames, and the guard of honour, mounted by fans, told a story of appreciation. Everyone knew what was coming: the title would be theirs.

Tottenham took the lead through a former Liverpool player; Dominic Solanke rose the highest to head home from a corner kick, but no one felt a sense of danger; they knew it was only a blip, and the players didn't disappoint them.

From Luis Diaz's leveller to the screamer by Alexis Mac Allister, to Cody Gakpo's goal before the break and Mohammed Salah's record-breaking strike, it was always coming as the Kops added another one which went in via an own goal to win 5-1.

Liverpool are the champions of England; they have done it in style, convincing from start till the very end. Andy Robertson revealed that Arne Slot told them when he walked into the dressing room that they were winning the league, and they all believed.

Without signing significant players, the Dutchman built around the same core left behind by Jürgen Klopp, tweaking the playing style a little bit to allow them to conserve energy, and the rest is history.

Under the Dutchman, you can't call Liverpool flawless, but they have been relentless with unmatched tenacity; the sea of red, made possible by the 60,000 people who were present, is an experience they will never forget; it is one for a lifetime.

Congratulations to Liverpool, champions of the land and custodians of the title, for the time being; the surreal experience would last for long, and when they do lift the title in the coming weeks, it would be a story for the coming generation.
