Manchester United is in no man’s land after news broke out on Saturday that Ivorian winger Amad Traore had done his ankle and could be out for the rest of the season.

The Red Devils are in trouble; most of what United does in attack comes from the youngsters, and hearing he has torn a ligament in his ankle means doom with Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Jordan Sancho all out of the club on loan.

Tottenham’s situation is easing up, but they still have key players out ahead of this huge encounter in front of their fans. Spurs’ manager Ange Postecoglou joked that the past few days have been his best as the club hasn’t played any games.

After the 4-0 whitewash at the hands of Liverpool in the League Cup, Spurs followed that up with a 2-1 loss at Aston Villa. Spurs must find a way past United, who also have a growing injury list and are in a strange position on the log alongside Spurs.

Speaking of strange positions, both clubs are in 14th and 15th on the Premier League log and both are completely out of contention for the European places, and all that is left to play for right now is pride, and it’s worth something to the fans.

Both sides did well for themselves to avoid extra games in the Europa League playoffs; they have rested a bit after the FA Cup games and now must go all out for this as they both hope to finish strongly with just 14 games left in the league season.

Tottenham has their first-choice goalkeeper back after a lengthy layoff, but the quartet of Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Richarlison, and Radu Dragusin are all unavailable on a long-term basis, with the latter undergoing surgery for ACL damage.

Tottenham could welcome back Cristian Romero and Timo Werner, who are both back in training; Wilson Odebert is in training and could feature too. This means Spurs could well be in a good place on the fitness front from next week.

United will miss Kobbie Mainoo and Amad after the two joined the injury list this weekend; Manuel Ugarte is a doubt with a knock and would be assessed, while the duo of Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw are certain to miss out again.

Watch out for Alejandro Garnacho; he is the one with the initiatives upfront for the Red Devils now after the injury to Amad. Bruno Fernandes has huge responsibilities on his shoulders too, but can Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee convert his chances?

Verdict: Both teams to score.
