As players begin to return to their clubs following the latest international break, we look at a few developments from the games and happenings around the beautiful sport.

Libya's madness has all eyes on the CAF.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially delisted the game between the Knights of Libya and the Super Eagles of Nigeria from its calendar, fueling anticipation and agitation among the involved parties.

Following Libya's show of shame, which put Nigerian players and officials in danger after leaving them unattended at an abandoned airport on Monday, the Nigerian contingent boycotted the game. The CAF disciplinary committee has been notified; what now?

United terminates Ferguson’s ambassadorial contract

Manchester United announced on Tuesday that they have terminated the long-standing contract of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with immediate effect. The club cited their cut-cutting model as the reason for this decision.

Ferguson, a lifelong season ticket holder who is welcome to their games every match day, will no longer represent the club at select functions as he used to and will now remain a fan only. However, are the coaching challenges the club has faced since his retirement the reason for this decision?

Sleeping Brazil springs alive against Peru

After struggling in their previous four games, Brazil won back-to-back games for the first time since last year as they dispatched Peru 4-0 at their famous home ground.

While Argentina continues to plug away at the top with yet another Lionel Messi hattrick in a 6-0 annihilation of Bolivia, Brazil surged to fourth on the log with a Raphinha brace and one each from Andreas Pereira and Luis Henrique.

Mbappe's camp denies rape rumors.

Following rumors of rape allegations against France’s Kyllian Mbappe, the entourage of the Real Madrid forward has denied the allegations, branding them as the works of those who were bitter that the Frenchman didn’t turn up for the international games.

A young lady had been said to have filed a complaint against the football superstar following an incident in a Stockholm nightclub, but Mbappe’s lawyer said, “It’s nonsense, and my client will not be drawn into it; it didn’t happen, and we’re not bothered.”

Tuchel has agreed to the England deal as Southgate's replacement.

With Lee Carsley unconvincing as the interim England boss, Thomas Tuchel will be announced on Wednesday as the substantive manager, with word on the street saying the contract will be for 18 months, notably till the 2026 World Cup.

The 3Lions haven't won anything since 1966, and Thomas Tuchel will have the daunting task of doing so. When the appointment becomes official on Wednesday, we expect reactions.
