Former Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is stable in his intensive care unit bed following reports of blood spillage in his brain while on holiday in Croatia.

News broke out by midday on Friday that the retired shot-stopper, who recently left his role as the director of football at Ajax following their poor finish to the season, seeing them miss out on Champions League football for the first time since 2009, was rushed to the hospital.

Ajax released a statement later in the day to confirm his stability and that he’s receiving the best care possible.

Edwin Van der Sar spent six years at Manchester United, winning the Champions League in 2008 after beating Chelsea on penalties.
