Derby County manager and ex Manchester United player Wayne Rooney has apologized to his family and the club after compromising images of him at a private party surfaced on the internet last weekend.
Cheshire Police released a statement that they had dropped a case of blackmail with respect to the images which showed the Legendary forward asleep on a chair in company of a few unknown women posing beside him.
"I made a mistake," Rooney told Sky Sports "I went to a private party with two of my friends and from me, I'd like to apologize to my family and the club for the images which were going round and I want to move forward on this.
Wayne Rooney was appointed manager of Derby County in January while the club was languishing at the bottom of the Championship and managed to keep them in the division with a 3-3 draw on the final day of last season.
It's a bit of a challenging time for Rooney as he will be starting the season, sweating on the fitness of lots of his players and to cap that, he injured one of his own players with a two footed tackle in training to increase the number of men he has on the sidelines.
Derby will start their new season with a fixture on the 7th of August against Huddersfield.
