The last has certainly not been heard of the potential homicide in the case of late football sensation, Diego Maradona as reports from an independent investigation suggests that the medical team were “inappropriate, reckless and deficient”

Reuters can confirm that seven medical professionals have been charged with "simple homicide with eventual intent" in the death of football great, Diego Maradona.

The prosecutors' office in San Isidro, Argentina, which inquired into the Argentine legend's death last November, have requested to the judge that those individuals indicted handed house arrest to prevent them from leaving the country.

If found guilty, those accused could face up to 25 years in prison.

Diego Maradona passed away at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020, from heart failure, two weeks after undergoing brain surgery.

Leopoldo Luque, the neurosurgeon who performed a successful brain operation on Maradona, and psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, who treated the former Barcelona and Napoli star, are among the seven individuals charged.

Although the two have denied any wrongdoing but they will be facing charges in court after being indicted.

Audio of private conversations between doctors and people from Maradona's entourage were leaked to the media and have indicated that Maradona was not being properly looked after prior to his death.

Members of family of the late football legend are demanding justice and Luque is among those they’re seeking to drag to the court of law as a principal culprit in the series of events that led to Maradona’s passing.

The prosecutors' office appointed a medical board to determine if there was evidence of culpable homicide from Maradona's medical team.

Two nurses, a nurse coordinator, a doctor and a psychologist are also among the charged.

Maradona's autopsy determined that Maradona died in his sleep of acute pulmonary edema, a buildup of fluid in the lungs, because of congestive heart failure but Maradona’s family insists the late footballer was left to his own devices without care.

The accused will begin to testify from May 31.
