Golden Eaglets through to quarter finals after 4-1 victory over Iran

Nigeria started the game brightly as Kelechi Iheanacho came close to scoring in the opening minute of the game, but his shot was inches off the left post.

The Eaglets continued to pile pressure on their opponents and deservedly took the lead in the 23rd minute through Samuel Okon who intelligently tucked a pass from Musa Yahaya under Mehdi Amini.

Iheanacho extended Nigeria's lead two minutes later when he side-footed a pass from Taiwo Awoniyi to score his fifth goal of the competition. But the teenage star had to be taken off shortly after, and Chidera Ezeh came on in his place.

Nigeria ended the first half with a three-goal advantage after the team's skipper Mohammed Musa received a pass from a quickly taken freekick and took on the Iranian defence before slotting home in the 42nd minute.

Yahaya intensified the woes of the Iranians when he blasted in a long-range shot in the 76th minute to seal the win for Nigeria.

Iran, however, bagged a consolation goal in the 84th minute when Ali Gholizadeh's shot from outside the box found its way past Alampasu into the Nigerian net.
