The quarter-final fixtures of the Carabao Cup are set to feature some exciting games, following the results of Wednesday night, which produced the final five for the last eight.

Premier League log leaders Arsenal blew Brighton away with a strong second-half performance to win 2-0; it was a game in which Mikel Arteta ran ten changes and still fielded a strong side, adding credence to the frightening depth at Arsenal.

Youngster Ethan Nwaneri got on the end of a fine Arsenal move to open the scoring in the second half. At the same time, substitute Bukayo Saka netted a rebound not long afterwards to complete the result that has now earned Arsenal a quarter-final clash against Crystal Palace.

Speaking of the Eagles, for the second time this season, Oliver Glasner's side beat Liverpool and this time, they did it in style. It was indeed another Ismaila Sarr show as the Senegalese continues his great run against the Reds.

Shortly before halftime, Sarr powered home the first goal, and he added the second just before halftime. Arne Slot fielded a young side with sprinkles of senior players, but the move backfired as the Eagles added a third late in the game.

Manchester City survived an early scare as they came back from a goal down to beat Swansea 3-1. Franco opened scoring for the Welsh side in the 12th minute, but Jeremy Doku levelled after the half-hour mark, and City didn't look back from there.

Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki added the second and the third late in the second half, but the Welsh side must be proud of how well they fared against a strong City side. The Citizens will face Brentford in the quarter-final.

Brentford defeated the fourth-tier team Grimsby 5-0, which added to their impressive victory over Liverpool at the weekend and ended Grimsby's strong run that included a significant win against Manchester United in earlier rounds.

Chelsea welcomed Liam Delap back into their fold, but he ended up on the wrong side of the law in their 4-3 win over troubled Wolves. Vitor Pereira's side scored three, including a first for Tosin Arokodare, but it wasn't enough as ten-man Chelsea advanced 4-3.

The Blues will play against Cardiff in the next round, while Newcastle, who beat Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday, will play Fulham. The Lilywhites beat Wycombe 5-4 on penalties to advance after full time ended 1-1.
