The Emirates Stadium has seen the highest of highs this season, watching the boys take Real Madrid to the cleaners and obliterating Manchester City in a 5-1 romp, but they have also witnessed the lowest of lows in a season that would go down as one of the biggest ifs” for the Gunners.

From losing at home to West Ham when they needed to close the gap on Liverpool to going five games without a win in front of the fans to watching PSG take them out of Champions League contention, not to mention how they were clinically beaten by Newcastle in the League Cup.

Speaking of Newcastle, they’re in a good place with regards to Champions League qualification, but they must want more; Eddie Howe would eye the second spot, which is quite possible; all they have to do is to beat Arsenal and finish the job at home next week Sunday.

Newcastle is having a mind-blowing season; from winning the League Cup to now being in a pole position to qualify for the Champions League for the second time in three years, it will be a phenomenal achievement if it happens.

Part of what must be ringing in the minds of many Newcastle fans is the position of Alexander Isak, but that can be taken care of if they finish in a Champions League spot; it is in their hands as it stands. How will they approach the game at the Emirates?

Arsenal should be the ones under pressure. The Gunners have lost three times against Newcastle this season without scoring a single goal. 1-0 loss away at St James’s Park in the league, 2-0 loss at the Emirates in the League Cup and another one at St James’s Park in the second leg, Arsenal has points to prove.

It doesn’t matter who finishes second or fifth, but for pride, you think Arsenal won’t want to relinquish the spot; however, they have only one job: to win on Sunday and finish the rest of the job on the final day against Southampton.

Arsenal has it all to lose, so they must field their best eleven, and with Mikel Merino out, Kai Havertz, who returned to training during the week, could be in line to start or feature at some points in the game. Bukayo Saka must step up, and Martin Ødegaard must bring what he did against Liverpool to this one.

Verdict: Full time draw.
