PSG 5-4 Bayern: PSG Win But Bayern Smell Blood

Champions Legue: PSG vs Bayern ended 5-4, but PSG’s late collapse gave Bayern belief before Munich. This semi-final is far from over.

PSG 5-4 Bayern: PSG Win But Bayern Smell Blood

PSG 5-4 Bayern Munich proved one thing clearly: PSG can scare anyone in Europe, but they still do not know how to close a door without leaving the key under the mat.

This was supposed to be a Champions League semi-final.

For about 70 minutes, it looked like two super teams had agreed defending was optional and vibes would settle the rest.

PSG won the first leg. Fine.

But Bayern walked out of Paris one goal down after being 5-2 behind. That is not survival. That is a threat.

Harry Kane started the madness from the spot after Luis Diaz was fouled by Willian Pacho.

PSG replied like a team that had taken the goal personally.

Kvaratskhelia twisted Josip Stanisic into a training cone and curled in the equaliser, then Joao Neves headed PSG ahead from Dembele’s corner.

UEFA’s report confirms PSG and Bayern had both scored 38 goals before kick-off, so the chaos was not exactly a shock.

The defending, however, still needs counselling.

Michael Olise then produced one of those goals that makes defenders look like they are buffering on bad WiFi.

He danced inside and smashed Bayern level.

Then came the controversy

Alphonso Davies handled in the box after a review, and Dembele buried the penalty just before half-time.

Bayern will complain, but Davies gave the referee a decision to make.

In a semi-final, that is how you donate momentum.

Davies had a rough night. He struggled with the tempo, got hooked at half-time, and the penalty incident changed the mood of the match. That is not a small mistake. That is a Champions League invoice.

After the break, PSG looked ready to bury Bayern.

Hakimi crossed, Kvaratskhelia scored again. Then Dembele made it 5-2 with a near-post finish.

UEFA named Dembele Player of the Match after two goals, one assist and direct involvement in another goal. Fair enough. He played like a man who had found the cheat code.

Then PSG did PSG things.

Upamecano headed in from Kimmich’s free-kick. Diaz controlled Kane’s long ball, cut inside and made it 5-4.

Suddenly, Paris was not celebrating a statement win.

They were checking the clock like a team waiting for bad news.

Luis Enrique summed it up well after the match, saying PSG deserved to win, but also could have drawn or even lost because the game was that wild.

That is not normal manager talk. That is a man admitting football briefly stopped making sense.

This tie now affects everyone watching from the other side of the bracket.

Arsenal, Atletico, whoever gets through, nobody should look at this PSG side and feel safe. But nobody should fear them like a complete machine either.

They are terrifying going forward and suspicious at the back. That combination wins classics. It also loses finals.

And PSG have another issue: Hakimi is now out of the second leg with a thigh injury, after assisting Kvaratskhelia’s fourth and finishing the match because all substitutions had already been made.

That is a serious blow before Munich.

This was not the night for safe score predictions. Anyone who called a tight 1-1 probably turned the TV off embarrassed.

PSG have the lead. Bayern have the belief. The second leg in Munich will not be a football match.

It will be a stress test.
