Luton is typically organized at home, and they have that aerial threat on set pieces, something that has become a roster in their game this season. United must be wary of their style.

It’s the game in which Rasmus Hojlund could make history; he has scored in five consecutive league games for the Red Devils, and at such a young age, he could catch up with Newcastle’s Joe Willock, who currently holds that record.

The Red Devils are on form; they have won four games on the bounce in all competitions and are currently in sixth on the log with no immediate threat of being usurped by anyone behind them as they have a four-point cushion over Newcastle, who has also played a game more.

Luton’s situation isn’t as glowing as that of their visitors; the Hatters are only one point above the relegation zone and could be thrown inside the bottom three at the end of the current game week if they don’t earn anything from their two games and Everton picks a point.

Luton has scored in each of their last five games and only lost one game in that sequence, but they need a big result in this game for confidence and momentum. Kenilworth Road is proving to be a fortress; they need to make it count in this fixture.

Not many expected what happened last weekend. Luton lost at home to Sheffield United. Conceding three against your relegation rivals is a shame, but here’s a big opportunity to fix that. Luton will give a good fight on Sunday.

United remains the favourite; the youngsters Koby Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho are leading the line for the visitors, and they will be immense again. Line-breaking passes and pocket-picking are their strengths; Luton must pay attention to the due.

Rob Edwards now plays Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo together upfront; they get services from Ross Barkley and Alfie Doughty. Both players can trouble anyone, but you wonder what defensive shape United would show up with considering the number of changes they have made this season.

Both sides need to win for different reasons. Luton must be disciplined throughout the game; you cannot afford to let things slip. The silky wingers of United will keep whipping crosses into the Luton box, while David Ogbene will give Luke Shaw a show.

Verdict: United to win
