Maguire forgives Ghana MP over wayward mockery

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has accepted the apology of a Ghana parliamentarian following a jibe at the defender’s quality last year.

In a statement during a parliamentary debate last year, opposition lawmaker Isaac Adongo compared the economic management skills of Ghana Vice President Mahamadu Baumia to the defensive weakness of Maguire, citing his own goals and poor performances.

The video went viral and soon became a TikTok sensation, spreading the mockery of the England defender, but in a sharp twist, the Ghana chief has apologized to Maguire and heaped praise on the former club captain.

In stating that the Ghana VP acts against the citizens of Ghana the same way Harry Maguire plays and acts as a threat against the Red Devils, Adongo has called Maguire a transformational leader following the defender’s resurgence at Old Trafford.

"I now apologize to Harry Maguire," Adongo said. "He is a transformational footballer. He is now scoring goals for Manchester United." Maguire has been a mainstay in the team this season following injuries to Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.

Maguire responds to Adongo’s open apology to quash any beef and also extends a hand to the Ghanaian man. "MP Issac Adongo apology accepted," Maguire replied on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday. "See you at Old Trafford soon," he added.
