Tottemham Hotspur manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been sacked after just 17 games in charge, Footballnus.com can confirm.
Club’s director of football Fabio Patirici disclosed to members of the press on Monday following a 3-0 loss at home to Manchester United, a game in which Spurs didn’t manage a single shot on target and the visitors would probably not need a goalkeeper.
"I know how much Nuno and his coaching staff wanted to succeed and I regret that we have had to take this decision," Paratici said. "Nuno is a true gentleman and will always be welcome here. We should like to thank him and his coaching staff and wish them well for the future."
Nuno joined Spurs after four relatively successful years at Wolves and he got on to a fine start with the North London club, winning all three opening fixtures including a 1-0 win over Manchester City.
But it has been a downward spiral since then with players’ body language suggesting they don’t understand the manager and fans audibly booed Nuno and the team throughout the second half of the weekend loss to Manchester United.
Nuno leaves Spurs 9th on the table with a quarter final game to negotiate in the Carabao Cup.
