Nigerian winger Kalu "is fine" after collapsing during a French Ligue 1 match between Bordeaux and Marseille at the Stade Velod
Nigerian striker Samuel Kalu is "Fine" after collapsing on the pitch during Bordeaux's 2-2 draw with Marseille at the Stade Velodrome on Sunday. After collapsing in the sixth minute, the 23-year-old required quick medical assistance.
Minutes later, he went off the pitch with an ice pack on his head.
Kalu returned to the game after receiving treatment, but he was replaced after appearing dizzy.
"According to the doctor, it was just a dizzy spell," he added at full-time, having scored Bordeaux's equaliser as they fought back from two goals down to earn a draw.
"We're happy for Kalu, everything is fine and that's the most important thing," Oudin said.
"We inevitably thought about what happened with Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen, the whole team and everyone was scared."
Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed in the first half of Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland in June after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Kalu had surprisingly come back onto the pitch after just a short time of recovery, but it is clear that he was not feeling normal and is now subbed off at the 14th minute for Rémi Oudin.— Zach Lowy (@ZachLowy) August 15, 2021
