The two hardly saw eye-to-eye in Jose Mourinho’s two and half year spell as Manchester United manager but stories continue to trail their relationship and following the Portuguese’ comments on the England left back last week, Luke Shaw has hit out at his former manager.
Luke Shaw is currently on duty with England at the Euros and Jose Mourinho, a pundit on radio for the championship criticized Shaw for his set pieces in England’s 1-0 win over Czech Republic as being “poor and dramatically bad”.
Luke Shaw responding to Mourinho’s comments said: “Look, he has got to do his job,” Shaw said. “He has got his opinion. I am used to him saying negative stuff about me now, so I just pass it by.
“His voice is obviously very big. He likes to talk a lot about me, as everyone has seen recently. Clearly, I am in his head a lot and he clearly thinks about me a lot.
“I will focus on myself. I take set-pieces at United, so it wasn’t as if it was something I wasn’t ready for.
Luke Shaw confirmed that his time at Old Trafford with Mourinho was hard as the Portuguese was always picking on him “I think he was a brilliant manager but, you know, the past is the past. It is time to move on. I am trying to move on but, obviously, he can’t.
“He continuously talks about me, which I find quite strange. Even some of the lads have said ‘what’s his problem?’ and ‘why does he keep talking?’ He just needs to move on.”
Mourinho kept Shaw out of the Manchester United squad for a while but when Mou was sacked midway into the season, Shaw won the Matt Busby player of the season award, proving Mourinho wrong and going on to become a solid option at left back for United.
