While the dust was settling on Chelsea’s mesmeric performance over Real Madrid on Wednesday, fans of the Spanish side took to social media to vent their anger on their disappointing playmaker Eden Hazard.

Live photos had surfaced of the former Chelsea midfielder laughing and frolicking with his former teammates shortly after the final whistle went off at Stanford Bridge and the fans of Real Madrid didn’t find it funny.

Hazard spend seven successful seasons at the Stamford Bridge stadium, winning two league titles and the Europa League against Arsenal in Baku, inspiring the team to a 4-1 win before he bade them farewell and headed for Real Madrid.

Hazard however has been underwhelming, to say the least, owing to injuries and loss of form; there were fears at some points that he wouldn’t play again should he go down injured again with doctors warning the Spanish club over his fitness.

Hazard got carried away after the defeat on Wednesday and was pictured having a good laugh with Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma, that didn’t go down well with fans of Los Blancos.

In the wake of social media boycott against hate speeches, fans tried to be modest but the Belgian owned up to the situation and apologized on Thursday.

Hazard wrote: "I am sorry. I have read lots of opinions about me today and it was not my intention to offend the Real Madrid fans. It has always been my dream to play for Real Madrid and I came here to win. The season is not over and together we must now battle for La Liga! Hala Madrid!"

Hazard started the 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge but couldn’t offer anything of note as Real Madrid bowed out of the Champions League.

There’s still league football to salvage for Zinedine Zidane’s side, they have it all to do as Atletico Madrid seem to have woken from their slumber but with them doing their own bit by winning their remaining games which is not beyond them, anything is possible.
