Premier League matchweek one review and other stories: Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea kick off their campaign with wins

Just six weeks after the last ball was kicked last season, the English premier league returned to our screen with loads of goals and exciting debuts for few new players.

But all attention would be directed at Anfield where Marcelo Bielsa nearly pulled the seemingly impossible, and Mohammed Salah weighing in a hattrick, aided by two penalties.

Leeds United proved what to expect from them this season, high pressing game and fearless guts.

Teams will set up differently against the new boys after seeing them take the premier league champions by the throat in the most exhilarating of the match packs.

The new premier league season kicked off at Craven Cottage where Arsenal swept Fulham aside with little stress.

Gabriel and Willian, two debutantss caught the eyes of everyone and folks at Stamford Bridge must be wondering if it was the right decision to allow the Brazilian switch the Blues for the Emirates, for nothing too.

The Lilywhites offered nothing of note going forward, apart from the early scare of miscommunication between Leno and Gabriel that forced the German to make an early save from Aboubakar Kamara’s feet and some forays down the right by Dennis Odoi.

Arsenal had very little to worry about while looking like scoring every time they go up against Scott Parker’s side in the lunchtime kickoff.

While it’s way too early to rate Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, they showed signs of a promising season with gritty defending.

Good build up play from the back which led to the third goal and proper game management especially when Aleksander Mitrovic was introduced.

Arsenal made sure nothing went wrong on the day to continue their good run of results against Fulham, with Alexander Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang continuing their record of scoring every time they face the Lilywhites.

Everton new boys shine against a lacklustre Tottenham

Jose Mourinho had lots to complain about after limping off with defeat against a new-look Everton on Sunday.

While the strong midfield showing by three new players for the Toffees on Sunday needs amplification, there however has to be a different approach to life in the Premier League for Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager went all out to attack his forwards for being lazy with their press and questioning their fitness, days earlier.

The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager moaned about fixture congestion, a consequence of their poor showing in the league last season.

Premier League football isn’t new to him, yet he finds ways to make it look like his failings are someone else’s faults.

Taking nothing from Everton, they deserve respect, beating Spurs away for the first time in 12 years means something.

The presence of Allan and Doucoure in midfield as well James Rodriguez down the right caused Spurs too much problem.

If not for the wasteful Richarlison, Everton would have mauled Spurs on Sunday.

Kai Havertz struggles in Premier League debut

Christensen, Zouma celebrate with Reece James after the right back scores a screamer for Chelsea against Brighton
Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 Chelsea: This victory earned Chelsea their 2,000th point in the Premier League (1,077 matches). They are only the third side to achieve this feat since the competition began in 1992, after Manchester United (2,234) and Arsenal (2,014). (Source: premierleague.com)
On Monday, Chelsea survived the energy exerted on the game by Brighton at the Amex, helping them to a win to start their campaign on a positive note.

Lamptey, a former trainee at Chelsea was on hand to threaten everything on the left side of the Blues and even registered an assist, but what positives can Chelsea take from the game outside the 3 points?

The emergence of Reece James is one, now they can ease Ceaser Azpilicueta out after years of solid service from the draconian Spaniard.

Outside that, they will have to be patient with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz who both had a subdued debut, might be easy to compare them with other debutants from Arsenal, Everton and Leicester, allowing them bed into the team without pressure will help the team greatly.

Arsenal fans can rest and be assured of another few years with their talisman, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Cesc Fabregas left in search of silverware when he was needed most, even the great Thierry Henry walked away to the same destination at a very key moment.

Fans of Arsene Wenger will be quick to cite the need for cash as the reason for the sales, but you can’t ship a player that believes and want to stay.

Aubameyang proved his love for Arsenal by penning a three-year deal at a time of his life when he only has one big move left for him.

And with birds whispering he got assurances from the manager and the board that they will sign strong players to help him, fans can expect real madness before the window closes.

Jadon Sancho's situation remains unclear, with fans opening a gofundme account to help Manchester United sign the BVB forward, but is there hope in the venture?

The price tag is almost impossible to negotiate, will he live up to it or cave to the pressure that comes with such?

News broke out late on Tuesday that Tottenham, managed by United’s former manager Jose Mourinho has hijacked the transfer of Sergio Reguillon and Gareth Bale, both would be a huge steal for Spurs but where does that leave United?

Nothing forthcoming on the transfer front outside the acquisition of Donny Van De Beek.
