Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool: Mane's late header wins it for Reds as they retain their six points lead at the top of the Premier League - Watch the match Highlights

Sadio Mane scores a glancing header to give Liverpool a 1-2 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League

Liverpool left it late, scoring two late goals as they came from behind to beat Aston Villa and maintain their six-point lead at the of the Premier League.

The reds had to dig deep to finish the match strongly as their 10-month unbeaten run was under threat.

Andy Robertson equalized with a header at the back post in the 87th minute.

While Sadio Mane completed the turnaround, controlling a header from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner beyond Tom Heaton and into the corner of the net.

It was heartbreaking for Villa, who had taken the lead in the 21st minute through new signing Trezeguet's first goal for the Dean Smith's side - a volleyed goal from John McGinn's free-kick.

The home side showed resilience, in a performance that saw them frustrate the European champions in the first half and then controlled the game in the second half until the last few minutes of the match.

Liverpool's victory means that they keep their lead over Manchester City, who put on a comeback of their own to beat Southampton and visit Anfield next Sunday in a crucial top of the table clash.

Aston Villa have now lost consecutive matches to the top two sides after winning two back-to-back games last month.

As a result of this, Villa are in the 16th place of the Premier League table, three points off the relegation zone.

Klopp's reaction to the body language of his players at Aston Villa via liverpoolfc.com

It changed everything. That's a good point. I didn't like the body language in the first half, that's exactly how it is. We were not like warriors, we were like players. That's OK, we have to play. But at the end, you have to win the ball back. That's what I said, with 10 minutes, of course we lost balls, had one counter-press which the impulse was right, three players there but they came out. It can happen because you cannot be 100 per cent successful with counter-press. On the other side, we were really being here, being there but don't finish the situation off. I don't know how long it took until we shot the first time from distance, maybe it was Ox, I am not sure – that would then mean [after] 60 minutes, that's quite a time. Body language is massively important.
