Barcelona’s Messi wins UEFA Player of the Year Award, Ronaldo applauds (Video)

Lionel Messi was voted the UEFA Player of the Year in last night's UEFA awards which took place after the champions league draw.

The Barcelona man had been voted onto a three-man shortlist alongside teammate Luis Suarez and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, both of whom joined him on stage for the announcement.

Messi spoke humbly of winning another individual award, while insisting that collective awards are what drive him.

Cristiano Ronaldo looked to be applauding and then appeared mildly bored during Messi’s speech, while Suarez looked pleased for Messi.

Suarez tweeted his congratulations for Messi, saying ‘It’s well deserved and it’s a privilege to play alongside you.’
