Arsenal swept Manchester City aside on Sunday to claim the Community Shield. Is that an indication that the Gunners are ready for the title campaign?

Of course, this is a transfer column, but what better way is there to start than what we saw on Sunday at the Cardiff Stadium in Wales? The Manchester City midfield raises numerous questions. Is Enzo Maresca in trouble?

Riccardo Calafiori fired Arsenal into the lead just 25 seconds into the match, followed by Kai Havertz heading home the second goal. However, Gigi Donnarumma did touch the ball as it went in. Arsenal added the third in the second half, with Martin Odegaard reinventing himself with a classy finish late on.

How awful was Manchester City in the game on Sunday? The midfield was non-existent as Arsenal ran the Cityzens to the ground. And, moments after the game, we got confirmation that Tijjani Reijnders had completed his move to Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia.

Right after the Reijnders news, another piece of news broke: Manchester City and Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Rodri to the Spanish club. That leaves Man City almost empty in the middle of the park.

Lille and the Cityzens are believed to be nearing an agreement for Ayoub Bouaddi. The young midfielder is set to complete a move to the Etihad, but even at that, Manchester City still needs a couple of bodies to be able to compete this season.

Touching on other transfer news across Europe. Barcelona also confirmed the agreement with Al Hilal for Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo. The former city right-back terminated his contract at Al Hilal to be able to complete the deal on a free transfer.

Arsenal may have dominated the Community Shield on Sunday; the conspicuous absence of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus from the squad suggests that the two Brazilians are on their way out of the Premier League champions.

Napoli has been knocking on Arsenal's door for Gabriel Jesus, while Martinelli turned down a potential move to Galatasaray. We expect the two players to leave Arsenal this summer, which means at least one top left winger will join the Gunners before the window closes.

Finally, Juventus is keen on Tottenham's Gigi Vicario. The Old Lady was close to signing Emiliano Martinez earlier in the window, but the Argentine's deal broke down, and Juventus now wants the Tottenham shot-stopper.
