Arsenal beat Coventry City to send signals to the rest of the league about where the head of the squad is as we head into the new season. On Friday night, the Gunners overwhelmed the Sky Blues, demonstrating their dominance as the Premier League champions.

Kai Havertz side-footed the opener as early as the 15th minute before Bukayo Saka tapped in from close range after some neat work from new signing Christos Tzolis. Arsenal wrapped up the scoring in the second half as Martin Odegaard bundled the ball home with the Coventry keeper left floundering.

The trio of Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Ethan Nwaneri were missing from the squad list against Coventry, leaving everyone wondering when the trio would leave the club. Martinelli is the one most people are talking about, with Ian Wright asking Arsenal to do better in handling the Brazilian.

This leads us to the transfer market, where Arsenal has once again been linked with a move for Julian Alvarez. The Argentine doesn't want to leave Spain; Barcelona is his preferred destination, but Atletico would rather sell abroad than the Catalan giants. Will Arsenal pull this off?

Speaking of transfers, Viktor Gyökeres was left on the bench as Kai Havertz played the entirety of the game on Friday night. Is the Swede the punt in the Alvarez deal for Arsenal? The irony is that Gyokeres scored more than Alvarez last season. Does that count for anything?

Now, this one is a bit strange: Juventus goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio has agreed to a move to Bournemouth. The transfer is a loan with an option to buy for €14m. Juventus took Gigi Vicario from Tottenham, then sent their goalkeeper to the Cherries. Strange, right?

Carlos Baleba will be a Manchester United player this weekend, subject to medicals. The Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder will join the Red Devils for a fee of £65m, which could rise to £70m if certain parameters are met. He is currently injured; how will he pass his United medical?

Liverpool has done a couple of strange deals this summer, and they're about to add another one. The Gambia winger Yakubu Minteh is a name on their lips, and we can confirm that the former champions and the Brighton winger already agreed on personal terms.

Brighton wants more than the £60m Liverpool offered, and we expect the Reds to return with an improved bid this weekend. The window closes next week, and Liverpool still has no direct replacement for Mohammed Salah. Is Minteh the man to do the job?
