Premier League Weekly Round-Up: Matchweek 35

Winners of the Week

Arsenal are running away with the league. 3-0 at half-time against Fulham. Half-time.

Gyokeres bagged a brace, Saka got the other, and Arteta was making substitutions by the hour mark like it was a pre-season friendly.

Fulham managed one shot on target in 90 minutes. One.

The Gunners are five points clear with four games left, and they've got Atletico coming to the Emirates on Tuesday for the Champions League semi-final second leg.

This is the kind of week where titles are won, and Arsenal didn't even break a sweat.

Then there's Michael Carrick. No one thought this man would have United playing like this.

Cunha opened the scoring inside six minutes, Sesko made it two by the 14th, and when Liverpool clawed it back to 2-2 through Szoboszlai and Gakpo, most of Old Trafford was having flashbacks to the Amorim era.

But Mainoo, fresh off a new five-year contract, absolutely leathered one into the bottom corner to win it. Champions League football confirmed.

First league double over Liverpool since 2015-16.

Carrick has beaten Arsenal, City, Chelsea, and Liverpool since January. Give him the job. What are they waiting for?

Losers of the Week

Chelsea are not a serious football club right now.

Forest came to Stamford Bridge, went 2-0 up inside 15 minutes, added a third after the break, and Chelsea's consolation arrived in the 90th minute when absolutely nobody cared.

Six straight league defeats. One goal scored in six games. The first time Chelsea have done that since 1912.

And here's the part that should make every Chelsea fan sick, Forest rotated their squad.

Vitor Pereira rested players for the Europa League second leg against Villa.

A rotated Forest team won 3-1 at Stamford Bridge. Let that sink in.

DUSTBIN AWARD: Chelsea. Three managers this season. Six consecutive league defeats. One goal in six games.

Beaten at home by a side that had half its mind on a Thursday night trip to Villa Park.

Calum McFarlane won the FA Cup semi-final last week, but the league form is beyond embarrassing, it's historic.

67% possession, 18 shots, and they still lost 3-1. That's not a crisis.

That's a club that needs to be rebuilt from the foundations up.

The Race Update

Five points clear. Four games left. Arsenal's title to lose.

City dropped two points in an absolute circus at Everton. Doku put them ahead in the 43rd minute, then Everton.

Everton! scored three in 13 second-half minutes through Barry (twice) and O'Brien to go 3-1 up. City looked done. Finished.

Then Haaland pulled one back in the 83rd, and Doku equalised in the 97th minute. The 97th.

City have dropped the joint-most points from winning positions in the Premier League since January, 12 points, level with Spurs and Newcastle. Read that again.

The team chasing a domestic Treble has the same winning-position record as a side fighting relegation.

That's why Arsenal are clear.

Below the title race, the picture is brutal.

United on 64, Champions League confirmed. Liverpool and Villa both stuck on 58.

Villa lost 2-1 at home to Spurs, I know, I didn't see that coming either, and now have to deal with Forest in a Europa League second leg on Thursday while trailing 1-0.

West Ham got battered 3-0 at Brentford and dropped to 18th on 36 points, one behind Spurs in 17th.

Wolves and Burnley are gone.

The Hammers are staring into the abyss.

If you backed West Ham to stay up at the start of the season, you might want to check your receipt.

One Thing Nobody Is Talking About

Bournemouth smashed Palace 3-0 on Sunday and moved to 52 points.

That's their highest-ever Premier League tally, with four games still to play. Seven defeats all season. Seven. That's fewer than Manchester City.

They've drawn 16 games, which is absurd, but underneath those draws is a team that barely loses.

If they'd turned four of those draws into wins, they'd be in a Champions League conversation.

Iraola is being linked with moves away, and Bournemouth fans should be terrified, because what he's built on the south coast is the most underrated project in English football.

Next Week's Must-Watch

Liverpool vs Chelsea at Anfield. Saturday, 12:30pm.

Two clubs in various stages of meltdown, meeting at the worst possible time for both of them. Liverpool have suffered 19 defeats this season, 19! twelve months after winning the title.

Chelsea haven't won a Premier League game since March 4.

Liverpool have scored four goals in their last 19 away first halves.

Chelsea haven't scored in six straight league matches. Something has to give.

One of these two is going to break a streak and the other is going to have a very long summer.

Which one blinks first?

STAT THAT REFRAMES THE SEASON: City have dropped 12 points from winning positions since January — joint-most in the Premier League, level with Tottenham and Newcastle.

The team chasing a Treble leaks points at the same rate as a club fighting relegation.

That's the gap. That's why Arsenal are five clear.
