The weekend claimed another managerial casualty with Wolves sacking Vitor Pereira after another loss. Are they a sure candidate for the drop?

You must feel pity for Pereira; after being handed a new deal earlier in the season as a mark of support from the board, nothing good has happened since then, and the board had to make a decision, but can the players also take responsibility?

In the home loss to Burnley, it was evident that the players lost the game while trying to win it; Wolves went two down and then clawed it back to 2-2. The biggest story of the weekend was going to be them going on to win it, but Lyle Foster had other ideas.

It is what it is; Vitor Pereira becomes the fourth manager to be shown the exit door, after Nuno Espirito Santo at Forest, Graham Potter at West Ham, Ange Postecoglou at Forest again, and now the departed Portuguese at Wolves.

There's still one more game to go this weekend, and it's a game of two separate schools of thought. David Moyes' pragmatism away at a compact Sunderland – can Regis Le Bris hunt down the Toffees?

This is where it gets a little interesting: a win for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light takes the Black Cats straight to second, behind Arsenal, whom they play against next weekend. Is this an extra motivation for Sunderland?

Everton is only above the drop zone by four points and three places; a win away on Monday night takes them straight to 12th, where they'd usurp Brentford. Does this make this a huge game at Sunderland?

Finally, on this episode of the weekend review, two of the three teams in the drop zone earned something from the weekend, with West Ham winning big at home against Newcastle. You have to wonder how that happened to the Magpies.

Eddie Howe must be under pressure right now. How does he explain the situation of his club? They have Champions League football in midweek; they must find ways to cheer up their fans who were deflated badly at the London Stadium.

For Nottingham Forest, they were inches away from winning against Manchester United but also inches away from losing it. Amad Diallo's effort was cleared over the line, but the point they earned was a deserved one. Will that famous Manchester United fan ever get a haircut?
