Chelsea and Fluminense will slug it out in the Club World Cup semifinal on Tuesday, while the big one between Real Madrid and PSG takes place on Wednesday; before then, we take a look at things happening in the buzzing transfer window.

Newcastle agrees to Anthony Elanga deal.

Newcastle United continues to prepare for their return to the Champions League with the signing of Anthony Elanga to boost their forward ranks.

Newcastle has been able to hang on to their star striker Alexander Isak despite Liverpool’s interest in the Swede, and with Callum Wilson released, the Magpies will seek another striker in the window, but Anthony Elanga will join from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £55m.

Galatasaray confident of Osimhen signature

After a successful loan spell with the Turkish champions, Victor Osimhen could return to Galatasaray permanently after the champions submitted a bid worth over £50m for the Nigerian.

With loads of top European sides needing a striker, it looks set to be Galatasaray all over again for Osimhen, and all that is left would be for Napoli to agree to the fee, after which the deal would be completed. An end is in sight for the Osimhen conundrum.

Napoli still wants Darwin Nunez.

With Victor Osimhen set to leave the club permanently, Napoli is insisting on Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez, who also has suitors in the Saudi Pro League.

It’s left to be seen if Liverpool would be willing to part ways with Nunez now that they have lost Diogo Jota to the accident of last week and Luis Diaz is itching for an exit to Barcelona as well. Liverpool will ask for up to £50m for Nunez; the Osimhen fee can offset that conveniently.

Juventus hawks Douglas Luiz around.

Douglas Luiz joined Juventus from Aston Villa in the summer of 2023 but has failed to impress, as it coincides with a struggling era for the Old Lady; now they want him out.

Como was in for the Brazilian at some points, but the deal didn’t progress; Juventus has placed Douglas Luiz on the transfer market and is hoping Premier League clubs will be interested. This could be a great opportunity for Tottenham, who needs some tank in their midfield.

Allegri gives verdict on Modric, Maignan, and Leao.

Newly appointed AC Milan manager Max Allegri has cleared the air on the trio of Luka Modric, Mike Maignan, and Rafael Leao, with the former expected to join the Rossoneri after the Club World Cup.

The deal between Chelsea and Maignan has broken down, something that excites Allegri, as he sees the French goalkeeper as the captain and an integral part of his squad. Allegri also insists that Rafael Leao will not leave the club this summer, as he’s building around the Portuguese talent.
