Chelsea has been crowned world champions following an impressive 3-0 win over PSG in the final of the Club World Cup.

The Blues went into the final as the underdog following PSG's rampaging form, which saw the Parisiens take out the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the quarter final and semifinal of the tournament, but it was Chelsea that took the shine off the night.

There's a lot to unpack from the epic night at the MetLife Arena, from the extended halftime show to Cole Palmer's brilliance and Luis Henrique's ill-advised outburst at the end of the game. It was indeed a show.

Enzo Maresca got his selection right, he went defensive with Malo Gusto and Reece James both starting the game and three men at the back - Levi Colwill, Nathan Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo.

PSG didn't know what hit them as Chelsea shut out all outlets to Kvicha Kvaratshkelia and Desire Doue, leaving Ousman Dembele lost and clueless upfront. For once, the midfield of Vitinha, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz had no answer.

Two identical Palmer goals in the first half sent PSG into panic and for the first time in a long while, they didn't have answers; apart from the 1-0 reverse against Botafogo, it was the first time PSG was conceding first, they couldn't bounce back.

The game was however marred by a late drama which was an offshoot of Joao Neves' red card for pulling the hair of Marc Cucurella in the 86th minute. Replays show Luis Henrique shoving hand in the face of Joao Pedro but the Spaniard denied any malice.

"I have no problem expressing my feelings at the end of the game in a high level of pressure," he told reporters. "It's very stressful for all of us. It is going to be impossible to avoid that.

"Everybody was involved. It was not what was best and the end result of the pressure of the match.

"I have seen [Chelsea coach Enzo] Maresca. I saw he had pushed others and we had to separate all the players and I do not know where that pressure came from.

"But this is a situation we must all avoid. That goes without saying. I intend that I wanted to separate the footballers, so the situations didn't become worse."

Chelsea became the first team in history to have won all club football titles after winning the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup title. Both sides would go on holiday to return in the third week of August when the new season begins.
