It’s day 7 of the transfer window; it closes on the 10th to reopen on the 16th of June, but for now, serious teams are doing what they need to do. Here are our top five picks from the buzzing headlines.

Liverpool’s Wirtz bid rejected again

Bayer Leverkusen has refused to shift grounds on their demands for high-flying playmaker Florian Wirtz, as Liverpool’s latest bid has been rejected.

The former German champions are holding out for £130m, which Liverpool must meet if they want the mercurial midfielder who is certain to fit into Arne Slot’s system as the number 10. No one else is in the mix, as the financial terms won’t allow for a bidding war. Will Liverpool return with an improved bid?

Tottenham sacks Big Ange.

Despite winning the Europa League, which has restored Tottenham to the Champions League, Tottenham has parted ways with manager Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs finished in 17th on the Premier League table but made up for it with a European trophy after beating Manchester United in the Europa League final at Bilbao. Thomas Frank has been rumored to be the man to replace him; watch this space for updates in that regard.

Arsenal’s Sesko pursuits hit top gear

Multiple news outlets are now reporting that the Gunners are nearing a move for Slovenia striker Benjamin Sesko after total agreement with the player and advanced talks with RB Leipzig.

Arsenal retains long-term interest in the 22-year-old striker, and while many expect them to go all out for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyorkeres, Mikel Arteta seems sold on the Slovenian and is getting his man as things stand; this should be done next week.

Inzaghi insists on Osimhen at Al Hilal.

Reports filtered through two days ago that Victor Osimhen’s move to Al Hilal could be off due to his wage demands and Napoli’s insistence on the full €70m, but Al Hilal has returned with an improved bid.

The Saudi club, now managed by Simeone Inzaghi, has requested the Nigerian striker ahead of the Club World Cup, and with this current window closing on the 10th, expect this transfer to move quickly with Galatasaray also trying their best to sign Osimhen permanently.

Christian Chivu signs as new Inter manager.

Former Inter Milan midfielder Christian Chivu has been named the new manager of the club on a two-year contract, and he leaves Parma immediately to take up the job at his former club.

After Inzaghi moved to Saudi Arabia, Inter Milan approached Como for Cesc Fabregas, but the former Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea playmaker opted to stay for another season, and Chivu is now the man to lead them out of the ashes of tragedy that befell them recently.
