Everton has been on an upward trajectory since the return of David Moyes to the club, but Manchester United cannot say the same about their fortunes; it’s going from bad to worse under Ruben Amorim.

When Erik Ten Hag was shown the exit door and the Portuguese came in through the other end, the optimism in the air was heightened, and you really can’t blame the fans for being excited after all; Amorim came with lots of promises after what he was on about at Sporting Lisbon.

Only four wins in fourteen for the Portuguese, and with United losing again last weekend, make that fifteen, and you don’t want to stick your necks out for them against an Everton side that knows how to stifle teams at Goodison; will it be another afternoon of frustration for the Red Devils?

Everton’s form is incredible; they have lost only once since the return of Moyes, and that was in the FA Cup. The run includes a sensational 2-2 draw against city rivals Liverpool in what would be the final Merseyside derby at Everton’s iconic Goodison Park.

What do we expect from this game? Let’s face it, both sides are literally fighting against relegation at this stage, and it’s tough to understand, but Everton currently sits above Manchester United on the log, and a win for the Toffees here could steer them completely out of danger.

What is going on with Manchester United? Why are they so bad? You can point to injuries, but they’re not the only ones to be ravaged by injuries; however, it was quite pathetic to see them having kids on the bench against Tottenham, but you’ll be tempted to ask, where did it go wrong?

Everton is strangely the favourite to win here, but you expect Manchester United to give them a great fight, even if it’s all for pride. The Everton defence would be excited at the prospect of another clean sheet; it’s quite easier to face the likes of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund than other strikers these days.

Marcus Rashford is enjoying his game at Aston Villa, and Antony is the new star boy at Real Betis. Early days, but you wonder if these boys would be of huge help to Manchester United in this trying time. Amorim confirms that Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, and Christian Eriksen are all available this weekend.

Verdict: Everton to win or draw
