The rescheduled game between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park weighs more than your average Merseyside derby, beyond being the last on this iconic ground, it means so much to the log and the chasing pack.

Liverpool needs the win to go nine points clear of Arsenal in second,, whilerton would love to close out the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on a high; it’s a game of huge significance for many reasons.

Liverpool currently sits six points above the Gunners at the top of the Premier League log, with a win over their city rivals worth an extra three points to drive their advantage up to nine points. Whichever way you look at it, a win hands Liverpool the initiative in the title race.

Everton’s resurgence under David Moyes is amazing; the Toffees have won three league games on the bounce since the former West Ham manager took over for the second time at Everton. They will be a huge threat to the log leaders on Wednesday night.

Bournemouth beat Everton 2-0 in the FA Cup at the weekend,, but the Toffees gave a great account of themselves and were unlucky not to find the back of the net. They must be clinical to earn anything from the game against Liverpool.

Speaking of Liverpool, the title favorites suffered a 1-0 loss at Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup. It was a makeshift Liverpool side, but with the likes of Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez on parade, there are no tenable excuses to lose to the bottom club in the Championship League.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is a big doubt for this game; the Liverpool right-back continues to struggle with a tight thigh, while Joe Gomez is expected to miss out on the game, but everyone else is fit to face Everton.

The hosts will be boosted with the return to fitness of Vitali Mykolenko; the Ukrainian has been passed fit to play, but the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil are certain to miss out due to different degrees of injuries.

Watch out for Mohammed Salah; his form is incredibly amazing, and he will test the entire Everton defence. Jordan Pickford will have a lot to do on Wednesday; he will earn his stripes when in-form Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, and Salah combine to trouble the Toffees.

Verdict: Liverpool to win
