This is a game between quality and mediocrity; one has won their last four while the other has lost their last four games. This is the latest edition of the clash between Manchester United and Liverpool; it should be fun at Anfield.

Liverpool is in a good place; they saw Arsenal and Chelsea drop points on Saturday, and what that means is that the Kops lead the log by five points with two games in hand. What an amazing place to be at this point of the season!

Manchester United is where they have been for a while; the highly anticipated INEOS takeover hasn’t yielded much joy with their cost-cutting strategies, failed transfers, and uncertainties around the January window.

The signs aren’t favourable for the Red Devils. Ruben Amorim spoke about storms; they have come a little too early, but can they weather it? A loss in this fixture automatically throws Manchester United into the relegation dogfight. Is that their new reality?

What has worked for Liverpool so far? The stability Arne Slot brought to the club is quite unprecedented; many expected them to fall off after the hiring of the Dutchman to replace Jurgen Klopp, but look at him bossing it like he was made for the role.

Ryan Gravenberch has been a revelation, the defence ticking despite Ibrahim Konate’s injury while Mohammed Salah is getting into the Ballon d’Or conversation even at 32. What a time to be a Liverpool fan after those nearly years.

Mohammed Salah has spoken about his contract situation; he believes he’s in his last year at Liverpool, and that may have stirred some unwanted issues, but trust them to keep things together on the pitch while they allow the club hierarchy to deal with the contract situations.

Is there a chance United can earn anything at Anfield? This has the infamous 7-0 of two seasons ago written all over it, with United lacking in many departments, but football has a way of teaching us new things every now and then.

We expect United to stick to defending; it’s about playing for the badge and standing to be counted. They’re facing a huge task on Sunday: to stop the Slot Machine from running over them. Lesser teams have done that this season; Liverpool might beat them silly yet again.

Verdict: Liverpool is to win.
