It’s the weekend, and you probably think transfer talks will simmer until Monday. You’re wrong, because things are going on with clubs making calls and flying around to tie things up. Let’s look at a few of the stories making headlines.

Atletico Madrid nears €80m Alvarez signing

Atletico Madrid is on fire! After completing a move for Chelsea’s Connor Gallagher for a fee of €40m, the Madrid outfit is primed for a successful bid for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez from Manchester City.

Despite Pep Guardiola’s strong affinity for the World Cup winner, Alvarez seems to be disinterested in playing second fiddle to Erling Haaland at the Etihad and, is willing to make the switch to Atletico with the Spanish side set to firm an arrangement for a fee of €80m for the Argentine.

Juventus set sights on Galeno after Adeyemi snub

With about six players, including Federico Chiesa up for sale at Juventus, the former Italian champions will be short on the wings and has now identified FC Porto winger Galeno as the man to step in.

Galeno excelled for Porto in the league and in the Champions League last season, earning him a call up to Brazil’s Copa America squad. Following Karim Adeyemi’s deal collapse, Juventus has now tabled a €40m bid for Galeno which everyone in Turin thinks should be sufficient to land their man.

Alexis Sanchez to return to Udinese?

Former Arsenal and Manchester United winger Alexis Sanchez is in line for a staggering return to where it all started for him, Udinese.

The Chilean moved to Barcelona from Udinese in 2013, kick starting what would become an interesting journey across top clubs. Udinese survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last season and would love to avoid such madness in the new season, keep an eye on Sanchez.

Leicester wants Liverpool’s Carvalho

Liverpool winger Fabio Carvalho spent last season on loan away from Anfield and could well be set for another loan spell with Leicester City seeking to bring him to the King Power Stadium on a season long loan.

With Cody Gakpo, Luis Dias, Mohammed Salah and Harvey Elliot all ahead of the youngster, his playing time could well be limited and, a move away could strengthen his stocks. Southampton had a bid rejected last week, the Foxes will stop at nothing to land their man. Another one to watch.

Newcastle ready monstrous bid for Marc Guehi

Wait, what? Newcastle United is readying a £65m bid for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and, it is believed across all quarters that the bid should be enough to land the former Chelsea man.

Cool, calm and collected, Marc Guehi shone brightly for England at the just concluded Euros and was immense when available for the Eagles last season. With Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles both injured on a long term at Newcastle, bringing in the intelligent defender makes sense.
