The Paris Olympics are well and truly underway, with athletes jostling for medals in various sports. We look away from the hunt for medals and focus on the buzzing transfer market, where teams are also fighting for players ahead of the new season.

Pep plays down exit rumors

At the end of the 2023–24 season, in the midst of title celebrations after winning an unprecedented 4th Premier League title, Pep Guardiola hinted that the end was near for him in Manchester, but he has come out to debunk the news.

The Manchester City manager confirmed he won’t spend another eight years at the Etihad, which indeed means he’s closer to leaving than staying; however, he insists he’s not leaving at the end of the coming season. Brace up for more Pep masterclasses.

Artem Dovbyk is set to join Roma.

Days ago, Girona striker Artem Dovbyk was on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid after agreeing on terms with Diego Simeone’s side, but things appear to have broken down on that front, and AS Roma is now the new destination for the Ukrainian.

Dovbyk set the La Liga ablaze last season with goals that helped the small club to Champions League football. He was on the wish lists of many top clubs, including Arsenal and Barcelona, but his entourage is currently negotiating with Roma, and he is expected to fly to the Italian capital this weekend.

Manchester United plots a Bayern raid

Manchester United is not done with the transfer window after Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee. The Red Devils have met with the agents of Mathjis De Ligt and Mazraoui over potential moves to Old Trafford.

De Ligt has been a subject of transfer to Manchester United since the window opened in June, but United has yet to meet the valuation of the Bavarians. Mazaroui will join United if Ten Hag is able to ship out Aaron Wan Bissaka, while Jonathan Tah is waiting for Bayern to sell De Ligt for him to join.

Ryan Sessgnon joins Fulham, ESR to follow

Former England youth star Ryan Sessegnon has left Tottenham as a free agent after an uninspiring career at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; he has now joined the Lilywhites on a 2-year deal.

Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe is expected to join Fulham after the two clubs reach tentative agreements on the transfer of the Hale End product. Smith Rowe is expected to complete his move away from Arsenal in the coming days, and Marco Silva’s side is his likeliest destination.

Ederson replies to critics and commits to Manchester City.

News broke out in midweek that the Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson wants to leave Manchester City simply because most people at the club praised Stefan Ortega for his heroics against Heung Min Son of Tottenham, going as far as saying Ederson wouldn’t have saved at point blank range like Ortega.

Al Nassr sent in a couple of bids for the Brazilian keeper in recent weeks, fueling the conversation about the keeper’s potential exit. Ederson has debunked the story and has committed to the club ahead of the new season, which starts in three weeks.
