Liverpool’s season is under threat and, they must be questioning their luck right now after five first-team players joined the injury list.

With a Carabao Cup final coming up at the weekend against Chelsea, the Reds can confirm that Diogo Jota will not resume action until later in April and Curtis Jones is also out for a significant period, both players got injured in the opening half of their game at the weekend against Brentford.

Darwin Nunez didn’t resume the second half too, word on the street is that he’s not going to feature against Luton as Jurgen Klopp won’t risk him however, there’s another bad news; Mohammed Salah has suffered a setback after his successful cameo on Saturday.

Away from Liverpool, their opponent on Wednesday night, under the light at Anfield, Luton Town must also feel they need some element of luck to shine. They are known to leave everything on the pitch without taking points out, the latest of such was their heroic display against Manchester United.

After starting the game the way a team should never start a game, conceding two comical goals, they rallied and would need to see the replay many times to understand how and why they didn’t get the ball over the line for the equalizer.

Liverpool saw Manchester City close the gap between them having played the same number of goals on Tuesday night with a narrow 1-0 win over Brentford, Erling Haaland stuck one in later in the second half to get the champions up to second on the table, Liverpool cannot afford to lose this one.

At the bottom, a draw would be enough to drag Luton Town out of the relegation zone and push Everton in there, a win would be awesome for momentum and confidence, Luton must ensure they don’t lose this game.

Who is left to drive Liverpool forward? Expect to see some academy boys here, Liverpool will prioritize the Carabao Cup final. Alison was injured at the weekend, so he won’t be risked here, Trent Alexander Arnold is injured, expect to see Conor Bradley in his stead.

Elijah Adebayo is unavailable for the visitors too after pulling out of the weekend home loss to Manchester United; Ross Barkley and Alfie Doughty will be immense in this game, if there’s ever a time for you to go to Anfield and shine, this is it.

Verdict: Liverpool to win
