Sources close to the media have revealed that Kylian Mbappe has informed the PSG hierarchy of his decision to leave the club in the summer.

Earlier in the month, multiple news outlets reported that the French superstar had made up his mind to join Spanish giants Real Madrid but was yet to inform his employers, which may have been put to rest now as Mbappe has officially told the club he wants to leave.

Following the drama of last summer, which included bitter conversations and accusations, PSG came up with two plans for their future, one with Mbappe as the poster boy and the other without the Frenchman. It’s now clear that the latter would be the blueprint going forward.

Real Madrid has tried in recent seasons to land Mbappe, and it’s the worst-kept secret in European football that it’s only a matter of time for the two parties to unite. How will this shape the future of the French champions?

Real Madrid has one of the most enterprising midfielders in Europe, with Aurelien Tchoumeni, Eduard Camavinga, Federico Valverde, Toni Kroos, and the ageless Luka Modric pulling the strings. Add to that the trickery and pace of Vinicius Jr., Rodrigo, and Brahim Diaz, and the addition of Mbappe will complete the magic.

Walking freely could mean many things for PSG and Mbappe; the youngster’s loyalty bonus has reportedly been waived as the club will not be able to earn anything from his departure; it also means the player gets paid a sign-on fee, which should be astronomical in value.

Other clubs are hoping to be involved in the Mbappe bid, but how many can afford him? Realistically, Real Madrid is the only team he can join, with FFP dangling hammers here and there. There is a possibility of Barcelona asking for him, but how will they be able to pay him?

Manchester United could finance his signing through third parties and their rich history, but do they have the promises of stability to offer him? With how the return of Cristiano Ronaldo ended, I'm not sure a player of Mbappe’s stature would like to risk the present state of things at Old Trafford.

Manchester City will not want the attention of the FFP officers while Bayern Munich is in a transition of sorts; Juventus and everyone else in Italy can’t afford him; the appeal of the Serie A isn’t something you want to consider either; Real Madrid is the likely destination; it’s hand in glove for him.
