The UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draws were held in Switzerland, home of football, on Monday, December 18, and it was a great show that handed us interesting February fixtures.

The draw was handled by former Chelsea and England defender John Terry, a Champions League winner himself in 2012, even though he was in the stands in the final game against Bayern Munich after his sending-off in the semifinal against Barcelona.

Arsenal was the first group winner to learn its fate. The Gunners will square up against 2004 winners FC Porto, with the Portuguese side playing the first leg at home. Porto finished second behind Barcelona, level on points but behind the Catalans on a head-to-head record.

Manchester City, the defending champions, will travel to Denmark in the first leg of the second round to entertain Danish champions FC Copenhagen. The Danes qualified ahead of Galatasaray and Manchester United in Group A to book a date with the EPL champions.

Real Sociedad finished ahead of Inter Milan in their group and got a tricky tie with French champions PSG. The Champions League remains the holy grail for the Paris-based club, and they would see this as an opportunity to go one further after losing the final to Bayern Munich in 2020.

Runners-up in Group B PSV Eindhoven drew German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, while Inter Milan will host Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side has been runners-up three times in the past and boasted solid group stage results.

SS Lazio will face Harry Kane and the rest of the Bayern Munich side. Lazio finished second in the group that had Atletico and Celtic. Bayern won all their games bar one in Group A, seeing off Manchester United on both legs and hoping to repeat their 2020 feat.

Record champions Real Madrid may be rueing their luck with injuries after David Alaba was diagnosed with an ACL injury on Monday. The Austrian utility player is the third Real Madrid player to suffer an Achilles ligament problem this season after Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao.

The 2022 champions will travel to RB Leipzig before hosting the German side two weeks later. FC Barcelona is up against SS Napoli. Arguably the standout fixture of the round. Napoli against the Spanish side is a fixture to look out for.
