Manchester City and Manchester United both lost on the same day in a rare premier league weekend and that has huge significance on the log.

The champions went to the Molineux with everyone expecting them to beat the Wolves but things turned out differently with Pep Guardiola sitting in the stands as he was serving a one-match ban for bagging three yellow cards in the season so far.

Pedro Neto forced the ball in through Ruben Dias as the Portuguese continued his rich vein of form but this one would go down as a Dias own goal. The champions huffed and puffed for the rest of the half but without a breakthrough.

Erling Haaland was struggling to impose himself on the game but it was his strike partner that grabbed the equalizer. Argentine forward Julian Alvarez curled one in from the edge of the box after Manchester City won a free kick.

Phil Foden thought he had scored not long after that but his tame effort was cleared off the line by the Wolves defenders. Hwang Hee-Chan scored the winner soon after off a simple Mattheus Cunha pass, City couldn’t find an answer as they settled for their first loss of the season.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United was looking to make it back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace but the Eagles had other ideas. Roy Hodgson’s boys shoved the League Cup defeat to the Red Devils aside to deliver a grand performance on Saturday.

Jurgen Anderson volleyed one home from a set piece on the 25th minute and Erik Ten Hag’s side didn’t have an answer. It was the fourth defeat recorded in the league season by United in just seven games and it might just be time to hit the panic button.

Ten Hag started Sofyan Amrabat at left back and Mason Mount beside Casemiro in midfield. Facundo Pellistri got a nod on the right ahead of Alejandro Garnacho but there was no place in the squad for Antony after being cleared to rejoin the team.

Manchester United’s latest loss comes ahead of their Champions League game against Galatasaray with the Turkish team in top form and hoping to get one over United, whatever Ten Hag knows how to do has to start working for the team, they’re slipping too deep into chaos.
