The Harry Kane conundrum begs for attention, and it’s important that the England captain make the right decision as he turns 30 later this month.

Harry Kane has been the subject of a transfer this summer from Bayern Munich, with some believing it’s just a matter of Kylian Mbappe moving on from the capital before PSG launches a bid for the Tottenham Hotspur captain.

At the end of a footballer’s career, when the curtain drops and it’s time to take stock, what counts the most for a footballer: trophies or individual honours?

This question and many more will be on the lips of many when Harry Kane retires from the beautiful game.

With Tottenham proving themselves to be perennial failures at the altar of trophies, what will Kane point to in that regard when he retires?

There hasn’t been much joy on the flip side for the national team, with England coming close in two of their last three major tournaments. Nearly hardly kills a bird, they say.

Daniel Levy is known to be a tough man to negotiate with, but Harry Kane needs to make up his mind on what he wants with his career.

Does he want to break the Allan Shearer record even if he has to sacrifice trophy-winning, or does he move on from Spurs to a club where he can win something?

Bayern Munich has had two offers turned down by Tottenham for their prized asset, but the Bavarians are poised to go again with one more, hoping Spurs will bulge and let their man join the German champions, but, if you must ask, what does Kane want?

Shearer’s goal-scoring record is one thing many would want, but is that the ultimate?

Does that come before the trophy count?

Will that be enough to cement Kane’s name in the history of the game among the greats who have loads of trophies to show for their troubles?

At the end of the day, it lies with Kane to decide what he wants, but he has to be aware that at this rate, if Erling Haaland stays a bit longer in England, he would break this scoring record, and Kane would be left with nothing to show for his heroics.

Another question is the quality of the German league compared to England, but does that really matter?

Case in point: Olivier Giroud may not have scored as many as Kane, but when both retire, who would have had a more fulfilled career?
