Kylian Mbappe has told PSG he won’t be renewing his contract, which expires in 2024, and the club will not allow him to go for free.
Real Madrid launched a mega bid for the French star in the last two windows, with the club adamant he wasn’t for sale.
But word on the street is that the Qatari owners don’t want to sell to the Spanish giants regardless of the player’s stance.
Multiple sources report that Kylian Mbappe sent a letter to the club hierarchy on Monday, reiterating his decision to leave the club when his contract expires next summer.
But the club will not let him run down his contract and is now willing to listen to offers for him.
Reports suggest the contract situation of Neymar Jr., who could also leave the club this summer, and Lionel Messi’s exit contributed to the player’s decision.
The club has now set a massive €150 million expectation for anyone interested in the forward.
The 24-year-old Frenchman was instrumental to PSG’s title and has always wanted to play for Real Madrid.
It’s left to be seen if FFP would allow the deposed Champions League winners to sign Kylian Mbappe or if he’d head elsewhere.
Lack of Champions League football is a bane for Chelsea, and Manchester United is another name on the cards.
The Red Devils can afford the player, with new owners likely to be announced soon, but is the Manchester club appealing to Kylian Mbappe?
Manchester City is another potential destination, with the club willing to let a couple of players leave to raise funds.
PSG already saw Messi leave for nothing; they won’t sanction Mbappe leaving on a free next summer.
