Real Madrid proved on Wednesday night that they’re the most experienced team in the Champions League and they know what to do at the right time to get the right result.

To be honest, Liverpool didn’t have any chance, but teams have overturned big deficits to advance before.

Liverpool didn’t look the part on form; they lost to Bournemouth over the weekend in the Premier League, and that has jeopardized their top four hopes.

Karim Benzema scored the only goal of the night to ensure there’s no dramatic comeback; the Los Blancos have now dumped Liverpool out of the Champions League three times in a row.

The Kops must now focus on the league to fight for the right to return to the tournament next season.

On the same night, Nigerian star Victor Osimhen scored twice to help Napoli reach the Champions League quarterfinals for the first time.

They won 5-0 over two legs, with the second leg ending 3-0 in their favour at the Diego Maradona stadium.

"It wasn't easy, but we managed to reach a historical goal for Napoli," coach Luciano Spalletti said. "I hope we enjoy it now with the whole team and together with the fans."

"It is important to have the attitude we had tonight. At the beginning, we didn't have much quality, but we did well and didn't concede." Osimhen is a very strong footballer. He is able to cut behind defenders, and now he is also playing more with the team, and we're happy."

Napoli is the third Italian side to advance to the quarterfinals.

It’s the first time in almost a decade that the Italian Serie A would have up to three teams in the final eight of the UEFA Champions League, dating back to the glory days of Juventus, AS Roma, AC Milan, and Inter Milan.

Napoli and Real Madrid joined AC Milan, Chelsea, SL Benfica, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Manchester City in the quarterfinals, and the draw would be held at 12 noon CET.

Teams would know their fate by then.
