Arsenal Sign Italian Midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea for £12m

Arsenal sign Italian midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea in a £12m deal, adding intelligence, leadership skills, and experience to the team.

Arsenal have secured the services of Italian midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea in a £12m transfer deal. 

The 31-year-old player had been in the last six months of his contract with the Blues and passed a medical on Tuesday to sign an 18-month deal with the Gunners. The contract includes an option for a further year.

Jorginho, who was signed by Chelsea from Napoli in 2018, is known for his intelligence, leadership skills, and vast experience in the Premier League and international stage. 

Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, has expressed his excitement at the signing and believes Jorginho still has a lot to offer the club.

The midfielder was a bit surprised by the move but called it an "amazing challenge". 

He said that playing for Arteta was a big influence on his decision to join the club and he can't wait to get started.

Jorginho becomes Arsenal's third signing of the January window, following the acquisition of Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Spezia for £17.6m and Belgian striker Leandro Trossard from Brighton for £21m.

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League with a five-point lead and a game in hand over the teams below them. 

Jorginho, who has won several titles with Chelsea, including the Champions League, Europa League, and FIFA Club World Cup, will be wearing the number 20 shirt for the Gunners.

The club's sporting director, Edu, welcomed Jorginho to Arsenal and praised his quality, experience, and strong mentality. 

He believes the player fits the team's style of play and will play a key role in maintaining their momentum.
