Cristiano Ronaldo has gotten to the end of the road at Manchester United and his contract has been terminated by the Old Trafford side following his ill-advised interview with popular broadcaster Piers Morgan.
The Portuguese star revealed things unexpected of a legend last week and the United hierarchy took huge exceptions to it but Ronaldo is not sorry. Consequently, United has announced that they have parted ways with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner by mutual consent.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus star has been in the news since the interview with many wondering where he’d head after getting his wish with Manchester United. It is widely believed that Ronaldo granted the interview to achieve move away.
Ronaldo wanted to leave in the summer but no real suitors came for him. Chelsea was said to be interested in him but Thomas Tuchel kicked against it, a development that added to the German’s exit at Stamford Bridge, and only an Arabian club made a formal offer.
Where does Ronaldo go from here? Can he be considered as a stop-gap at Real Madrid with Karim Benzema struggling with injuries? Will he return to Sporting Lisbon where it all started or is there any truth in the Bayern rumor? Time will tell.
Another question: is Ronaldo a legend at Old Trafford? Or has he thrown his legendary status out of the window after the interview? Does that mean he won’t be seen at any club as a legend? Ronaldo is currently with Portugal at the World Cup in what is another last hurray for national honors
