It’s going from bad to worse for Paul Pogba as news broke out late on Monday that the Juventus midfielder will not be a part of the French contingent to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to his incessant injuries.
France already lost Chelsea star N’golo Kante after the midfield maestro went under the knife for his recurring knee problems, sparking doubts about their chances at the winter tournament and, considering the fears about the defending champions since 2002, lightening could strike on the same spot again.
Pogba was recently involved in a blackmail controversy with his brother with Matthias Pogba over claims the former Manchester United star man went diabolical against PSG forward Kyllian Mbappe; it’s been a weird season for Pogba and he probably needs good news from somewhere.
Since joining Juventus for free in the Summer after leaving United, Pogba hasn’t kicked the ball and to his dismay, the Old Lady of Turin has dropped into the Europa League and is even in danger of dropping out of Europa altogether.
France will hope to survive the curse of the defending champions when they kick off in Qatar later in November but with key men pulling out of Le Bleus squad, Didier Deschamps will have to improvise and hope he can work his magic again.
