The champions league is back and for Manchester City, it is the symbol of the missing piece. The UEFA champions league is the reason Pep Guardiola continues to divide opinions and whatever side of the divide you stand, you’ll agree it’s long overdue for the Spaniard.

The Cityzens are condemned to win the latest champions league and no better way to start than showing what they got away at Sevilla when the tournament resumes on Wednesday. No excuses will be tenable this time.

It was about overthinking two seasons ago when City lost to Chelsea in the final by a slim 1-0 margin and it was about the glory and aura of Real Madrid last season with the sensational come-back win over the England champions, the time is now for City.

The missing piece for the Cityzens is believed to be a striker and this season, two solid strikers have landed at the Etihad and they have both hit the ground running. Erling Haaland has scored a whooping ten goals in six games and Alvarez, fellow new signing scored twice on his full debut against Bournemouth.

League form doesn’t necessarily impact the champions league, Chelsea finished tenth on the log the season they won the champions league for the first time and labored for top four the second time they won it two seasons ago but City must address their league form as well.

Conceding in three of their six games so far speaks volume but the world knows their priority lies in Europe. Whatever they do, they must make their statement on the pitch. It is now or never for the Cityzens… their time is now!
