News breaking out of Germany is that RB Leipzig and Chelsea have agreed terms on the permanent transfer of Timo Werner for a fee believed to be £25m.

Werner joined Chelsea from Leipzig in the summer of 2020 but failed to make any real impact and was blunt in front of goal; the arrival of Thomas Tuchel was expected to help his performances but nothing has happened in that regard.

Werner was relegated to the wings when Romelu Lukaku joined Chelsea but the big money invested in him by the Blues will go down as a bad investment as he has now agreed to return to where he came from with the World Cup in sight.

Chelsea will look to reinforce before the deadline with a central defender and a striker with Kai Havertz currently leading the line in the absence of a recognized striker.
