The new season starts with the traditional curtain raiser, the Community Shield on Sunday and we take a look at how ready the teams are ahead of the new season. Up next in this series is the fate of Tottenham Hotspur.

Antonio Conte has reinforced quite well and should Tottenham get James Madison has widely touted in the media, they’d have had a 10/10 window. Tottenham will be playing in the champions league after beating Arsenal to fourth spot last season and they seem well prepared for that adventure.

Spurs signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton to shore things up in the middle, signed veteran Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan who could play on the wings as a wing-back, Richarlison joined from Everton to strengthen the attack and Clement Lenglet joined from Barcelona on loan.

Tottenham also added Djed Spence to the fullback positions and also back up goalkeeper Fraser Forster from Southampton. The team is well equipped to battle the top two and with a manager that understands the game, you must watch out for Tottenham in the new season.

Arsenal can be proud of their summer dealings so far with clear and obvious improvement on the team that narrowly missed the champions league last season. Gabriel Jesus joined from Manchester City and you can already see what he has to offer from the pre-season games.

Mikel Arteta has his men now and no excuses would be tenable if the team doesn’t win Europa League or finish in the top four. You can tell that Arteta is building something in the image of City’s template and one is not surprised that he’s shopping from the Etihad with the acquisition of Oleg Zinchenko too.

Arsenal need to add a central midfield cover to circumvent eventualities should Thomas Partey be unavailable and that player is likely to be Youri Tielemans of Leicester City. Also, the Gunners are in the market for a winger, they tried in vain for Raphinha but Fabio Vieira who joined from Porto could help in that regard.

The return of William Saliba means Arsenal are well covered in the center back region; Pablo Mari is expected to be sold or loaned out, Rob Holding is likely to stay while Nuno Tavares is in talks for potential loan away to Atalanta. Arsenal will compete in the new season if all we see come to one piece.

…To be continued
