Barcelona 2-3 Real Madrid: Real Madrid reach Spanish Cup Final after win over rivals in El Clasico as Valverde scored the winner in extra time
Real Madrid have advanced to the Spanish Super Cup final following an extra-time victory over rivals Barcelona.
Federico Valverde scored the winner in Saudi Arabia after Ansu Fati's late leveller forced extra time.
Real Madrid took the lead three times in a thrilling El Clasico clash, with Barcelona responding twice before Valverde made it 3-2.
Karim Benzema of Real Madrid scored and assisted in normal time, but Luuk de Jong and Fati equalized in the second half.
Benzema, who substituted for Vinicius Junior in the 25th minute, also hit the post in normal time and came close to extending Real's lead in extra time with minutes remaining.
Throughout, he posed a threat, while Vinicius' quickness on the counter-attack posed problems for Barcelona.
However, Xavi's side created chances as well, particularly through Ousmane Dembele and substitutes Pedri and Fati, though they were unable to convert them.
Ferran Torres, who returned from injury, also made his full Barcelona debut, but he failed to score before being substituted at half-time.
Atletico Madrid, last season's La Liga champions, face Athletic Bilbao in the other semi-final on Thursday, with the winner facing Real Madrid, who are chasing their 12th Super Cup, in Sunday's final in Riyadh.
