News breaking out of the Emirates Stadium says club captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has been stripped of his captain band following indiscipline issues that ruled him out of the premier league win over Southampton.
Aubameyang was rumoured to have reported late for training last week having been granted freedom to travel, but the Gabonese striker was pictured at the tattoo studio a day after his due date to return and he was subsequently axed for the weekend game.
A statement published on the Arsenal website on Tuesday morning read: "Following his latest disciplinary breach last week, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will no longer be our club captain, and will not be considered for selection for Wednesday's match against Westham United.
"We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed. We are fully focused on tomorrow's match."
Alexander Lacazette, Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are in the running for the armband which is expected to be announced ahead of the visit of the Hammers to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
