Chelsea have matched PSG's offer of £56.1 million (€60 million) for Inter Milan winger Achraf Hakimi.
Inter may be more receptive to Chelsea's offer because of the Italian club's interest in Emerson Palmieri and Andreas Christensen, according to Sky in Italy.
Inter prefer a loan deal for Palmieri, but Chelsea prefer a permanent deal.
Chelsea's offer for Hakimi still appears to be much below Inter's asking price.
Morocco's full-back is thought to be worth £68.8 million (€80 million).
In Serie A last season, Hakimi scored seven goals and added ten assists.
After establishing himself on the European scene on loan at Borussia Dortmund for two seasons, he was signed by Inter from Real Madrid for a cost of roughly £40 million last summer.
As a wing-back, Hakimi, who can also play as a full-back on either flank in a traditional four-man defence, would be perfect for Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel's five-at-the-back system.
Chelsea are in direct contact with Achraf Hakimi’s camp. Inter want €80m to sell him on a permanent deal - PSG offered €60m and they’re still pushing to reach an agreement. 🇲🇦 #PSG #CFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) June 9, 2021
